Repaired Device in Our Workshop — ifm O3D361 3D Vision Sensor
The photographs show an ifm electronic O3D361 — an industrial 3D Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensor rated IP67/IP69K, 20.4-28.8 V DC, 1.6 A avg / 2.4 A peak, Made in Germany. The unit arrived at Acore with symptoms of no object detection and a solid red status LED instead of green. Diagnosis: blown VCSEL (Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser) diode driver in the IR illuminator module and a failed capacitor C12 in the DSP power supply section.
Common Machine Vision Camera Faults
No Image — Camera Not Detected
Camera connected via GigE Vision / USB3 but not found by the configuration software. Root causes: blown GigE PHY (Marvell 88E1111, Micrel KSZ9031), failed polymer fuse on 3.3V rail, blown USB3 controller (Cypress CYUSB3014), corrupted SPI NOR flash firmware, Camera Link trace break. Red Status LED / Detection Error
Device powers on but LED is solid red or blinks in error pattern. Typical on ifm O3D3xx, SICK Visionary-T, Leuze LSIS. Root causes: blown VCSEL driver IC MAX4295, failed 850 nm VCSEL laser diode, FPGA configuration error (Xilinx Spartan-6 DONE pin low), oxidized M12 connector pin, faulty NTC temperature sensor. Blurry Image, Noise, Vertical Stripes
Camera operational but image quality unacceptable. Causes: damaged CMOS sensor (dead pixels, dead columns from ESD or overexposure), loose lens module, failed AFE (Analog Front End) amplifier, condensation on protective glass, damaged IR-cut filter. Repair: 1,200-4,500 PLN.
GigE Communication Errors / Packet Loss
Camera detected on network but image stream drops or high latency. Causes: blown EMI filter on RJ45, desoldered bypass capacitor on 3.3V GigE PCB, failed SoC processor (i.MX6, Zynq-7000), FPGA thermal throttling without TIM. Repair: 400-1,800 PLN.
Built-in LED Ring / Laser Line Not Working
Camera operates normally but integrated illumination does not activate. Causes: blown LED driver IC (TI TPS61187, LM3466), failed MOSFET (IRLML6344), broken flex cable to LED board, faulty NTC on LED PCB blocking power. Repair: 350-900 PLN.

- Does repairing a machine vision camera erase the inspection program?
- No. Inspection programs are stored in flash memory or on a microSD card which we do not touch during electrical repair. In the rare case of flash replacement, we perform a full backup via the service port or Ethernet beforehand.
- ifm O3D361 solid red LED and no object detection — is this repairable?
- Yes. Solid red LED most commonly indicates a blown VCSEL driver circuit or failed IR diodes. Diagnosis takes 1 day, repair 1-2 days. 12-month warranty on all repaired components.
- Do you repair line scan cameras for printing and film inspection?
- Yes - Basler racer, Teledyne DALSA Linea/Piranha, JAI LQ-400CL. Most common faults: Camera Link HS PHY failure, damaged LVDS outputs, EXSYNC synchronization loss.
- Can you repair a Cognex In-Sight 7000 without losing the license?
- Yes. The In-Sight license is tied to the hardware serial number, not to the main PCB. Replacing a faulty component (PHY, capacitor, MOSFET) does not change the serial number.
- What is the shipping cost from Germany?
- Flat rate 80 PLN (approx. 18 EUR) for shipping both ways, insured up to 50,000 PLN. Express courier pickup at our cost for repairs above 3,000 PLN.
- How long does repair take?
